Camden Today is an independent news and information site for the London borough of Camden: Camden Town, Kentish Town, Hampstead and West Hampstead, Belsize Park, Swiss Cottage, Primrose Hill, Chalk Farm, Gospel Oak, Dartmouth Park, Somers Town, Euston, King’s Cross, Bloomsbury, Holborn and the Camden side of Kilburn. We report what the public record shows and keep the everyday local information accurate: what homes actually sell for ward by ward, the fares and journey times from every station in the borough, what is dug up and where, what the council is planning to build and what there is to do here.

How we work

We build stories from primary sources: Camden Council’s newsroom, the council’s own open register of current planning applications, police.uk crime data, The Gazette, the Food Standards Agency’s hygiene ratings, Companies House and HM Land Registry sold prices. Every fact links back to the record it came from, so you can check it yourself. Where a record is ambiguous or incomplete we say so rather than fill the gap. We use British English and plain language.

Three local details shape how we check things:

  • A Camden postcode is not a Camden boundary. Kilburn is split with Brent, NW6 runs into Brent and Westminster, and King’s Cross and St Pancras sit on the line with Islington. We confirm the address, not the postcode district.
  • A Camden address in a public notice often belongs to somebody else. Insolvency notices in The Gazette match any address printed in them, and that is frequently the liquidator’s office rather than the failed business, so we read the registered office before we publish. Streets called Camden Road turn up in Tunbridge Wells and Brecon too.
  • National news with a Camden postcode is still national news. The British Library, UCL, the Francis Crick Institute, the Royal Free and St Pancras International are all in the borough. We report them when a decision changes something for people who live and work here, not because the address qualifies.
